Give Thanks For The People In Your Life

By Don Loftis | 11.19.14

As we move towards the annual Thanksgiving Holiday, it is important to ponder those things for which we should be appreciative.  Our minds immediately turn to houses, cars, food, jobs, security, health, and forgiveness.  All of these things are genuine blessings that most of us enjoy.

This year I want all of us to be even more thankful for the people who continue to bless our lives.  Honestly, where would we be without:

* Family (some who are no longer with us).

* Spiritual mentors who taught us the Bible and encouraged us to live for the Lord.

* Medical staff who have diagnosed, treated, counselled, and repaired our aging bodies and minds.

* Public servants (soldiers, firemen, police officers) who daily risk their lives protecting us and defending our freedoms.

* Teachers who taught us and our children, and are now teaching our grandchildren.

* Nameless people who pick up our garbage, deliver our mail, fix our McRibs, repair our roads, and perform dozens of other useful, if not essential, jobs.

Of course behind all of this lies our Creator — the God of heaven and earth.  We would do well to begin and end our list of blessings with Paul’s words from II Corinthians 9:15, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.”
