What A Privilege

By Don Loftis | 12.31.14

While Paul was being held as a political prisoner in Rome, he wrote a letter to his beloved Christian friends in Philippi.  By the third verse he begins pouring out his heart with these words, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all.”

Today, as we look forward to 2015, I feel very much like the apostle.  I want everyone to know how much I appreciate the opportunity to preach and minister here in Old Hickory.  This congregation has a great history of  preachers beginning with C.J. Garner and Willard Collins, and I am honored to be a part of that history.

I am blessed to work with good elders who truly love the Lord and His Word but also have a compassion for the hurting and the lost.  I am thankful for Barrett and his love for our youth and for the unity and growth of this church.  I am consistently amazed at the talent and conscientiousness of our office and custodial staff; they multiply my efforts.  It is a privilege to work with a congregation whose ministries are dreamed, organized and staffed by “folks in the pews.”

During the holidays your cards and gifts have served as a reminder of your generous support and encouragement that has spanned 22 years.  Pam and I want you to know how much we appreciate your love, and that we continue to be excited about the future of the Lord’s church here.  Our prayer for you and your family in 2015 is that the Lord will guide you to a place that is very close to Him.
