There is something very special about being chosen. Think of times you were picked first. Maybe it was on the playground for a team sport. Were you chosen to lead a group of peers? Have you ever been chosen for an award, promotion, or prize?  Did your spouse say, “I choose you” in their vows?

When we hear our names called out as the “chosen” person, it excites us! That is why Isaiah 43:1 is an awesome verse. “But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine…’”

Some of us are never chosen. Some of us go years and years without hearing those words, “I choose you.” This is one example of God letting us know in a very straightforward manner that we are chosen. We have been saved, therefore; we have nothing to fear. It is always hard for me to comprehend that God created stars, provides for the birds, and still knows my name. Even though I can offer Him nothing, he places importance on our relationship.

You have been chosen. You weren’t chosen last either. You have been chosen by name. Live a life worthy of that calling (Eph. 4:1). Share this with the depressed, the lonely, and the fearful. This is a verse of love, hope, and redemption.
