It’s Time To Say Thanks

By Don Loftis | 06.08.16

Last night I was reading a newsletter from World Christian Broadcasting in which Charles Caudil was thanking its many supporters for their prayers and financial support through the years. It reminded me that I needed to offer that same type of thanks.

In Mt. 9:37-38 Jesus challenged His disciples by saying, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the harvest.” We need more workers -- every congregation does -- but I am increasingly thankful for the ones we have here at Old Hickory.

I look around and see dozens working with our Break Night program and others conducting worship services each Sunday at the Towers and the Life Care Center. There are senior citizens at Disaster Relief and teens helping out at the Mission. Some folks are preparing or delivering meals, others are copying CD’s. There are benevolence workers, Day School teachers, bus drivers, building maintenance folks, mission work coordinators, and the list goes on and on. Beyond all of these are those who make our worship and classes possible every time we assemble.

The goal of a local church is to honor God by serving our brothers and sisters and by reaching out to bless our communities. The members of the Old Hickory congregation are to be commended for their efforts of sharing the love of God. I personally thank you for allowing me to share in your outstanding ministry.
