Our Elders
James Lawson
James Lawson has been a member of the Old Hickory congregation for over 60 years. In that time he has served as a teacher, worked with the Towers program, and, since 1989, has served as an elder. Jimmy has a degree in Accounting and worked with DuPont as well as at the Old Hickory Credit Union. He has 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and enjoys sports and travel.
Ralph Martin
Ralph Martin Has served the congregation as an elder since May of 1983. He has also previously served as a deacon and teacher, and currently works with our Visitation Ministry as well as with our Second Milers Ministry. He and his wife, Mildred, have been members at Old Hickory for over 40 years. They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Ralph is retired after working for 40 years with the IRS as a Revenue Officer and 11 years of driving part-time for Grayline. He now enjoys working in his yard.
Jim Oliver
Jim Oliver received his degree in Math and Chemistry at David Lipscomb University and is a retired DuPont Senior Research Chemist. Jim has been a member of the Old Hickory congregation since 1962. During that time he has worked as a teacher, helped with our Bible Camp and Vacation Bible School, and has served as an elder since October of 1989. He and his wife, Bitsy, have 2 sons and 6 grandchildren. Jim enjoys golf, traveling, doing mission work, and working with Disaster Relief.
Steve Pilkinton
Steve Pilkinton became an elder in October of 1998. He and his wife, Sherry, have been members at Old Hickory for over 30 years and have two daughters, Shellie and Stephanie. Along with serving as an elder, Steve also taught the 5th and 6th grade class for several years. Steve graduated from Austin Peay State University and has worked in computer sales for over 25 years. He enjoys fishing, computer games, and playing the guitar.
Charles Poston
Charles Poston is a retired educator of over 33 years. He and his wife, Sandra, have been members at Old Hickory since 1995 and have a daughter, Laura, a son, Seth, and a granddaughter, Alayna. Charles became an elder in 1998. He has also served as a teacher for various ages and works with our Young Professionals group.
