No Baggage Necessary: Travel Light
No Baggage Necessary
Christians should be preparing for an extended journey. Although some specifics have yet to be determined, we know the day will come when each one will meet that universal appointment. Right now, time should be spent with what to send ahead. Jesus said we are to lay up treasures in heaven (Matthew 67:19-21). What treasures am I sending ahead? Paul explained something of this departure to Timothy. “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out” (1 Timothy 6:7). Job expressed it more dramatically. “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there” (Job 1:21). We came into this life with nothing, and we will leave with nothing. We will have no need for baggage because John tells us in Revelation 21:4 in heaven we will need no tears, no death, no mourning, no crying, no pain. “The former things are passed away.” We not only can’t take it with us; we will not want to.
