First Class Accommodations: Your New Body
“I tell you a mystery we will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:51) These are Paul’s words to the Corinthians describing the future body. He goes on to speak of it being imperishable and immortal. A body that is no longer subject to the aches, pains, and eventually death that we currently must endure. And what a blessing that fact is! Having an immortal body sounds amazing. But can you imagine an immortal body that is forever in pain. We see people suffer today in their bodies. Imagine them having immortal bodies that prolonged the suffering into eternity. That would not work in the heaven we read about in Scripture. So, God promises more than immorality. He promises imperishability. Our bodies do not decay. They do not age into frailty. We have a body that is not just eternal, but eternally perfect. This is what lies in store for us as we take off this tent and move to a permanent dwelling (2 Corinthians 5:1).
