Benoni, South Africa

Our Mission Supported Effort in South Africa

A question that is asked in virtually every African nation where the Lord’s church is located concerns leadership. Outside North America more congregations exist in Africa that have elders than anywhere else on the globe. It is not surprising then that Jerry and Ann Hogg have devoted their efforts to training for such needs in Benoni, South Africa (population around 175,000) at the Southern Africa Bible College.

Currently, Al Horne serves as its president while Jerry Hogg acts somewhat as a chancellor. The Hogg family has served there many years, and when in the USA the Hoggs attend the West End congregation in Knoxville, TN.  For several years now Old Hickory has helped this work from the Perpetual Evangelism Fund that was set up years back with interest drawn on a large initial amount donated for that purpose to help foreign missions.

Located just a stone’s throw from Johannesburg,  Southern Africa Bible College has been a vital cog in supplying leaders for many South Africa churches as well as for those in surrounding nations. In October of 2018 Nathan Miller (now one of our elders) and his family were blessed to be able to spend some time with the Hoggs and get a bird’s eye view of the work. God has blessed the school for which we are most grateful.
