Budapest, Hungary

Those who labor in missions in Hungary

Several years ago Curry Montague left Somerville, Tennessee, and went to further the work of the Lord in Hungary and to learn one of Europe’s most challenging languages. In Budapest he met and fell in love with a Hungarian national, Dora, who is now his wife. They have two boys, Mark and Attila. A third boy, Kriztian, passed away a few months ago from a rare genetic disorder at age twenty-one.

Each summer in September the church in Budapest conducts a city-wide effort to evangelize and invites members of the church from the USA to pass out BCC material in the public squares.  Several Bible studies are usually set up with many hearing the Gospel for the first time.

A new Gospel radio program now emanates from Budapest with Curry and his son Mark the primary speakers. Derbrecen, Hungary, is also a focal point for the Montagues. That city is Hungary’s second largest where a small church also meets. Freedom of religion is now the norm here in a land where once the iron hand of the Soviet Union restricted all church activity.

The Montagues are sponsored and overseen by the Somerville, Tennessee, Church of Christ. Old Hickory has been partially supporting their work since 2017.
