Transfers Included: Getting From Here To There
Does the name Mehran Karimi Nasseri ring a bell? You might not know his name, but you know his story. Spielberg made it famous in The Terminal (2004).
Nasseri was a man without a place. He got stuck between nations when war broke out in his home country and diplomatic relations broke down. The real-life Nasseri lived in the airport from 1988 until 2006. Even a layover of a few hours is miserable; I can’t imagine what Nasseri went through!
Lots of us have gotten stuck. We use different words for it. Trapped by consequences. Enslaved by the addiction of sin. We are somewhere between where we were and where we want to be. We know where we want to go but we’re not there yet.
The good news is that Jesus “has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13-14). Thanks to Jesus, we won’t stay stuck forever!
