Joy That Never Ends: One Way Ticket To Paradise
On a cold February day, as I looked out the window of Freed Hardeman’s library, warmed by the thoughts of beaches, palm trees, and sunshine. I had just booked a cruise for my honeymoon, and was eagerly anticipating the amenities of this new cruise ship: all-you-can-eat buffets, daily entertainment, and amazing locations to visit. But the real sense of joy came from knowing who I was going to share the trip with—Brittney (my now wife of 6 years). On a more profound level than the beauty of the Caribbean, the descriptions that the Bible offers of the ultimate destination, heaven, captivates unfathomable splendor. In fact, Paul tells us that we cannot even imagine what is waiting for us (1 Cor 2:9), yet the joy arises from knowing who we will be able to share it with—God. The anticipation and excitement that comes from the preparation to go on a trip should translate to that of the life of a Christian—anticipating the journey to eternity . . .the true paradise.
